Add some "YUM" to your day with an ice cream sandwich!

In honor of National Ice Cream Sandwich Day (Aug 2), let's talk about how to make these delicious creations at home! I mean let's be honest, is there anything better on a warm summer day than an ice cream sandwich?!

So let's get started on these delicious treats! They do require at least 3 hours in the freezer, so it's best to start assembling these sandwiches around lunchtime if you would like them for dinner!

Step 1: Grab your favorite larger size cookie. Get creative- sugar, chocolate chip, oatmeal, you get the idea! Homemade is best, but if you can't bring yourself to bake (we get it) the large cookies at Costco would be a perfect pick. They come in a variety pack too!

Step 2: Make sure your cookie is perfectly cool, otherwise the ice cream will melt! Then flip over your cookie and put a scoop of your favorite ice cream in the middle, and spread it out to the cookie edges. Gently press a second cookie on top to make the sandwich.

Step 3: Next put your favorite ice cream toppings in a bowl (ex, rainbow sprinkles, chocolate chips, crushed walnuts, mini marshmallows, mini M n Ms). It's best to use either miniature or chopped options. Then roll the cookie through your favorite toppings to cover all the ice cream showing.

Step 4: Tightly wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap and stick it in the freezer. Pro tip: make each sandwich individually so you don't have melty sandwiches all over your counters!

Step 5: After at least 3 hours, take out those sandwiches and ENJOY!!
