Creating Curb Appeal

When making the decision to sell your house, there are so many things for a home seller to consider. The biggest one, & easiest, is what real estate team should I use? The Liz Keeps It Real Estate Team, of course! The next thing to consider is curb appeal. You want home buyers to walk up to your property & feel like that can make your house their home. Did you know what potential home buyers will make a decision about your house in 30 seconds?! That's a very short amount of time to make an impact. However with10 simple steps, you can add some "WOW" to your home's exterior. Don't know where to start. Go across the street and take in your home. This will give you an idea of what potential buyers will see, and give you a good place to start on any "sore spots".

  1. Symmetry! Symmetry is pleasing to the eye. You can achieve this look by adding front door accents on each side, such as matching light fixtures, planters, etc.

  2. Paint! Adding a fresh coat of paint will do wonders for freshening up the space. Consider using a calm but colorful hue to really add some POP!

  3. Lights! New light fixtures are an easy way to improve the look of your home. Just be sure to select features that fit with your home's style (ie, if you have a Craftsman style home, don't select something ultra modern).

  4. Seating! If your home's layout allows, make sure to add in a bench or outdoor chairs. This will make your home seem inviting. Pro tip- add some decor pillows too!

  5. Yardwork! This is the least expensive way to spruce up your space- do some yardwork! Mow that grass, trim the bushes, edge & weed.

  6. Flowers! Adding some color to your planters will add some pizazz to your exterior. If space allows, consider adding some flower boxes for under the windows.

  7. Clean it! Power wash your front porch, walkway and driveway to clean off any debris and create a clean space.

  8. Front door decor! Adding a simple wreath to your front door & front door mat will help in making your home more welcoming.

  9. Sore Spots! Look for an areas of the front of the home that need some attention. This could include old or overflowing gutters, chipped paint, moss on the roof, etc. that will detract from your home's beauty.

  10. Clean windows! Clean those windows, even those on the second floor! This will help your open appear cleaner and brighter, inside and out!
